PROGRAM

Suggested trains: 
- Train from Padova to Venice “Santa Lucia”: departure at 08:53 am, arrival at 09:20 am.
   

• Free arrival in Venice and meeting at 10:00 am meeting with the guide in front of the Venice railway station “Santa Lucia”
• Guided tour along the Cannaregio district, one of the largest and most populated of the city.
• External visit of Chiesa di Santa Maria di Nazareth (Church of Santa Maria di Nazareth), called the Scalzi; a grandiose Baroque building whose ceiling - decorated by Giambattista Tiepolo - was destroyed by an Austrian bomb in 1915. Further along Lista di Spagna to Campo San Geremia and continue towards the Ponte delle Guglie that spans the Cannaregio Canal, the main artery of the city. It, together with the Grand Canal and the Giudecca Canal, is a “canale” and not, as is normal for the other waterways, a “rio”.
• Taste of a typical “Cicchetto veneziano” and a glass of wine – cicchetto is a piece of bread with fish. It’s time of sharing for local people in the late morning or in the late afternoon. Many Venice café are called “Bacari” and each one offer their typical “Cicchetto”.
• Cross the bridge and turning left along the fondamenta di Cannaregio up to an arched portico we enter the Jewish Ghetto.
• Arrival in St. Mark square, where it is possible to admire the beautiful “Basilica di San Marco”, Ducale Palace and the Venetian Lagoon
         

End of the tour at 12:00 am.
The return to Padua is free
